Is This MOBILE
DISCO Right For My Event
When you're looking to book a mobile disco for your party, please do not make your decision based just on price.
Ask where have they layed before, what type of music do they have, and are they members of a association. There are lots of
DJ's and Discos on the Web and in Yellow Pages who will quote you a low price, which may appear to be a bargain at the
time, but will they have preofessional equipment, have a varied range of music, are lights included in this bargain price,
are they reliable, maybe turn up 5 mins before your party is to start and then begin to unpack and setup, turn up late or not
at all.
There are some important factors
to consider when choosing which mobile disco to book, and some important questions you should be asking. If you are looking
to book a disco or DJ. Hopefully these pointers will help ensure you book with a reputable one.
INSURANCE
It is strongly recommend that you only book with a DJ/Disco that has Public Liabilities Insurance (P.L.I.). This is
very important, should anything happen at your party for example if a speaker were to fall and injure someone. If something
like this were to happen, you need to be assured the DJ has sufficient insurance against such accidents.
A reputable disco will send you a copy of their P. L. I. certificate
with your booking paperwork. Don't just take a DJ's word for this, make sure you do get a copy of the Insurance certificate,
your venue may also want to see it.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
All portable electrical equipment should undergo an annual safety check, by an electrician, commonly known
as a PAT test (Portable Appliance Test).
THE BOOKING AGREEMENT
Make sure the disco can issue
you with a Booking Agreement/Contract to confirm your booking. Check all the details on the booking agreement, and always
read any "small print" before signing. Make sure you can keep a copy of this as well.
Have you got full contact details for the disco company, in case of any
problems on the day of your function. This means a landline - not just a mobile phone number.
MUSIC AND REQUESTS
Ask the DJ what styles of music they will play.
All good DJs will carry a wide selection of music, however if you are looking for a particular style, put together a request
list. An experienced professional DJ will select tracks from your request list, together with those they know will work with
the styles you have selected, whilst also taking requests from your guests on the evening.
